THE GRAPE
Gelber Muskateller is an old variety that dates back to the ancient world and comes from around the Mediterranean region. This true globetrotter is the lively and spicy representative of the enlarged Muscat family (Austrian Marketing Board). This grape bears different names depending on where it is grown; Gelber Weihrauch (AT), Muscat blanc à petits grains (FR), Sárga Muskotály (HU), Moscato bianco (IT) and Rumeni Muscat (SL).
Gelber Muskateller is a rarity in Austria with only 517 ha in total which is 1.1% of the Austrian vineyard surface.
Martin Moser defines this wine as the 'subtle perfume' for its elegant aromas.
THE TERROIR
From the gravel vineyard called Neubruch “Steinernes Meer” or stony sea, it refers to the gravels left behind by the sea after it retreated.
Martin Moser defines this wine as the perfect 'summer wine'.
VINIFICATION
The grapes are hand harvested, four hours long cold maceration, fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, the wine is bottled young while it is at its freshest.
