Vinification:

Castell de le Pinyeres is a blend of 40% Carinyena, 40% Garnatxa, the last 20% is a blend of Ull de Llebre, Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot. Ull de Llebre is the name given to Tempranillo in Catalan.
This wine was made using traditional fermentation with indigenous yeast. The two typical regional grapes; Carignan & Grenache are the backbone, the addition of the other less traditional grapes add complexity to the wine.
Aged for 13 months in French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels first and then aged in stainless steel for 12 months. Bottled early 2010.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Deep ruby red color.
Nose: At first the nose is rich in fruits, then more complexity shows through with clean mineral notes and spices from the aging in oak.
Palate: Again lost of fresh fruits at first, then the white pepper, tobacco, vanilla & chocolate point towards a more complex wine. A beautiful finish with a good sensation of ripe and round tannins, finishing on pleasing soft balance.
Other: A beautifully balanced wine, with fine & soft tannins, it is best enjoyed with rich meaty dishes, this is a very elegant wine.
