2005 Blend

Viticulture

Vineyard: Three different vineyards of old Carignan vines.This is a blend of 75% Carignan, 15% Grenache, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Soil Type: 3 different kind of soils: slate (llicorella), red clay (argila) and calcareous.
Vine Age: Carignan is from vines between 70 and 90 years old.
Irrigation: No irrigation
Harvest Date: Between the last week of September 2005 and second week of October 2005
Yield: 1 kg or less per vine.

Vinification:

The grapes have been selected from the best vineyards. Fermentation and maceration lasted for 30 days. Then it was aged for 14 months in new French oak barrels, then it has been aged for 5 months in stainless steel.
This wine has been made using traditional fermentation, with the grape’s own yeast.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Really deep cherry with hints of blue.
Nose: Ripe fruit, slate and mineral notes, chocolate and dark berries, and a finish of spices, pepper and ceder.
Palate: In the palate it is fresh and full-bodied, reminds of red and dark fruits, good balance and lengthy finish.
