2003 Blend


Vineyard: The Falset zone is very hilly and has a cold climate
Soil Type: The soil is formed by the decomposition of the granite mass of Falset, mixed with tertiary age limestone deposits.
Vine Age: 80 years (Grenache and carignan) and 30 years (Cabernet Sauvignon)
Irrigation: No irrigation
Harvest Date: 3rd week of September for the Grenache and Cabernet and last week of September for Carignan.
Yield: 1-2 t/ha


Masroig 2003 is a blend of 75% Carignan, 15% Grenache and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes have been selected from the best vineyards. Fermentation and maceration lasted for 30 days. Then it was aged for 14 months in new French oak barrels. It was bottled in May 2005 and allowed to rest for another 7 months in the bottle.
This wine has been made using traditional fermentation, with the grape’s own yeast.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Very deep red colour with some blues.
Nose: Ripe fruit, chocolate, mint and spicy aromas. Very complex, intense and persistent.
Palate: In the palate It is fresh, vivid and well structured. A powerful and well balanced wine with good acidity and a lot of character.
