Les Sorts Vinyes Velles
2002 Blend

Soil Type: The soil is formed by the decomposition of the granite mass of Falset, mixed with tertiary age limestone deposits.
Vine Age:
Irrigation: No irrigation
Harvest Date:

Les Sorts Vinyes Velles is a blend of 40% Garnatxa del País, 30% Carinyena and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.
This wine has been made using traditional fermentation (with the grape's own yeast).

Today the Cooperative uses two main methods of vinification. Traditional fermentation begins when the bunches are destemmed at the winery. Alternatively, the bunches may be kept in tanks to permit them to undergo carbonic maceration before pressing. The other method used is a low-temperature fermentation.
The Falset zone is very hilly and has a cold climate.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Intense color with purple shades, showing a solid body and at the same time expressing its youth.
Nose: Fresh red and black crystallized fruit. There are traces of smoked soot. As we stir the wine and it becomes open, it gets more complex and we find more spiced tones like black pepper, clove, lactic tones, ink and Mediterranean undergrowth (dry).
Palate: Initial fresh taste, with a growing evolution which leads to profound mature tannic. In the mouth we taste once more the fruit and crystallized fruit. Long pleasant aftertaste.
