Cepas Centeneria, or 'centenary vines', comes from pre-phylloxera vineyards, mainly sandy soil. The local grape Mencia is used to make this wine, to which 5% Bastardo and 2% others local grapes were also added as a finishing touch.
The grapes were hand picked at optimum ripeness, long maceration and fermented in French oak barrels, 100% full cluster fermentation with indegenous yeasts.
Aged for just over 12 months in used 228 liter French oak barrels.
No filtration, 3 500 bottles made.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Floral with violet and some smokey notes.
Palate: It is earthy while being very elegant and fresh. Cassis, well integrated hints of oak and fine tannins with a lingering finish.
Other: Cepas Centenerias may be aged with confidence for many years and will develop and refine itself over time. An example of elegance and balance that is an experience in itself.
This is a food wine and will pair well with game meats or rich dishes such as Osso Bucco. It is best served slightly chilled.
