Vinification:

Cepas Centeneria, or 'centenary vines', comes from pre-phylloxera vineyards, with mainly clay and sand types of soil. The local grape Mencia is used to make this wine, to which 5% Bastardo and 2% others local grapes were also added as a finishing touch.
The grapes were hand picked and fermented in French oak barrels, long maceration period before aging for just over 12 months in used French oak barrels.
No filtration.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Red cherry with hints of violet on the rim.
Nose: Cassis, hints of fresh herbs to finish on elegant spicy notes.
Palate: Complex palate, oozes with minerals, slate, cassis jam, elegant oak and refined earthy notes.
Other: Cepas Centenerias may be aged with confidence for many years and will develop and refined itself over time. An example of elegance and balance that is an experience in itself.
This is a food wine and will pair well with game or rich dishes such as Osso Bucco. It tastes great served slightly chilled.
