Vineyard: 4000-7000 vines /Ha, pre-phyloxera, altitude 580 meters above sea level.
Soil Type: Mainly clayey.

Vinification:

Cepas Centeneria, or 'centenary vines', comes from pre-phylloxera vineyards, with mainly clay and sand types of soil. The local grape Mencia is used to make this wine, to which 5% Bastardo and 2% others local grapes were also added as a finishing touch.
The grapes were hand picked and fermented in French oak barrels, long maceration period before aging for 12 months in used French oak barrels.
No filtration.
The total production of this wine is 2 500 bottles.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Dark ink.
Nose: Complex on the nose with red berries and some spices.
Palate: It is elegant and juicy with a soft and silky finish while having structure and grip.
Other: Cepas Centenerias may be aged with confidence for many years and will develop in a more refined wine. An example of elegance and balance that is an experience in itself.
This is a food wine and will pair well with game or rich winter dishes. It is also great when served slightly chilled.
