Cepas Centeneria, or 'centenary vines', comes from pre-phylloxera vineyards, with mainly clay and sand types of soil. The local grape Mencia is used to make this wine, to which 5% Bastardo and 2% others local grapes were also added as a finishing touch.
The grapes were hand picked and fermented in French oak barrels, long maceration period before aging for 12 months in used French oak barrels.
No filtration.
The total production of this wine is 2 500 bottles.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Dark purple.
Nose: Complex nose, rich cassis, spice, aroma reminiscent of slate and minerals.
Palate: At first it shows ripe cassis and other rich fruity flavors followed by elegant spicy notes. A lingering finish showing an exceptional soft silkiness and elegance along with balancing minerality.
Other: Cepas Centenerias may be aged with confidence for many years and will develop in a more refined wine. An example of elegance and balance that is an experience in itself.
This is a food wine and will pair well with game or rich winter dishes. It is also great when served slightly chilled.
