Vineyard: Several vineyards in Ventosa de Abajo, altitude 530-628 meters.
Soil Type: Sand & Chalk.
Vine Age: 25 to 45 years old.
Irrigation: No irrigation
Harvest Date: 1st, 2nd and 3rd week of September.

Vinification:

El Castro de Valtuille Joven is made from the youngest vines on the estate, aged between 25 and 45 years old. The plantation intensity is 4000 to 8000 vines per hectare.
Harvest is done by hand.
It is vinified and fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for four months. Aged in old 500 liters wood vats, no cold stabilization or filtration.
The total production of this wine is less than 300 000 bottles and it is the best selling wine in Bierzo.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Light garnet.
Nose: A very expressive wine, with a lively nose and great aromatic potential, with hints of wild berries, raspberry and blackberry.
Palate: Offers ample velvety sensations, with a very expressive tannic finish. Overall it is very
harmonious.
Other: El Castro de Valtuille is especially well balanced and easy to appreciate, a great alternative to Pinot Noir, pairs well with a wide variety of dishes from pasta to coq au vin.
