Vineyard: Several vineyards in Ventosa de Abajo, altitude 530-628 meters.

Vinification:

El Castro de Valtuille Joven is made from the youngest vines on the estate, aged between 20 and 40 years old. The plantation intensity is 4000 to 8000 vines per hectare.
Harvest is done by hand.
It is vinified and fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for four months. Aged in old large wood vats, no cold stabilization or filtration.
The total production of this wine is less than 300 000 bottles and it is the best selling wine in Bierzo.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Crimson with violet hues.
Nose: Outstanding aromas with ripe red fruits and hints of spices.
Palate: In the mouth it is soft and delicately balanced with rich and ripe red berries with a soupcon of black pepper. Rich and delicate at the same time.
Other: El Castro de Valtuille is especially well balanced and easy to appreciate, a great alternative to Pinot Noir, pairs well with a wide variety of dishes from pasta to coq au vin.
