Viticulture

Vineyard: Keerweder, Post House and Bredell, all located in the Stellenbosch / Helderberg area.
Soil Type: Decomposed granite soils with good moisture retention.
Vine Age: 20 to 40 years old.
Irrigation: Drip Method
Harvest Date:
Yield: Between 3 & 5 tons /hectare.

Vinification:

VINTAGE CONDITIONS
A cool, overcast, rainy spring led to poor fruit set and smaller, looser bunches. Very strong winds caused some physical damage and also contributed to reducing the size of the crop. The small crop contributed to faster ripening and the first grapes being picked very ripe. A hot, dry harvest, but most of the Chenin Blanc was picked before the mid March heat wave, preserving complexity.
PRODUCTION
100% barrel fermented in 225 and 700 liters casks for ten months. 20% new French oak. No malolactic fermentation. Bottled unfiltered.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Rich yellow color.
Nose: It needs time to open up and show some hay, hints of baked apple and spice with slight oak.
Palate: Rich and layered, a little richer & thicker than the previous vintages, with great concentration and length.
Other: Ideal with mildly spicy Asian seafood or chicken dishes.
Drink 2011 to 2015.
